- The identification of philadelphia chromosome and the characterization of the hybrid bcr::abl1 gene has marked a modern era in the treatment of cml and all, thanks to the development of tyrosine kinase inhibitors and their introduction in the therapeutic armamentarium, which led to a significant improvement of patients' outcome and quality of life. Nevertheless, many open questions are still unsolved, covering biological issues and therapeutic strategies in both diseases, in which the same molecular alteration gives rise to different leukemias, in terms of biological complexity, clinical presentation, treatment and prognosis.
The aim of the meeting is to share the most recent novelties in the field, pointing out the unmet needs and the current and future strategies for a deeper understanding of cml and ph+ all, and a more successful therapeutic approach.
