- The landscape of hepatology has experienced a profound paradigm shift. While the success of direct-acting antivirals
(daas) for hcv and potent nucleos(t)ide analogues for hbv has drastically reduced viral-related mortality, new
challenges are emerging. The recent introduction of targeted therapies for hepatitis delta (hdv) marks a new
milestone, yet the focus is rapidly pivoting toward the rising burden of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic
liver disease (masld) and alcohol-related liver disease (ald).
